| Annual Nature Photo Contest - August 15 to 22 - 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM - FREE - http://gooselakeprairie.org The Goose Lake Prairie Partners and Goose Lake Prairie State Natural Area are proud to offer this chance for amateur photographers to display their photographs they have taken in natural settings. While we hope everyone will take all their photos at Goose Lake Prairie, we know you will have a few nice shots in other parks in Illinois also. Visit our website for the rules and entry forms for this contest and we hope to see you August 15th (12 noon to 3:00 p.m.) to enter your photographs. Judging will be August 20 by judges found by the Morris Camera Club. A photo exhibit will be set up in the Visitors center for viewing on August 21nd and 22rd. Ribbons will be awarded. | August 17th - Due to difficulties beyond our control, the MAGC field trip has been changed to August 17th also changing the venue to Fabyan Japanese Gardens in Geneva, IL. The date is Tuesday Aug. 17th. We'll meet in the Park n Ride lot next to Dairy Queen on Rt. 47 at 8:15 AM, promptly leaving at 8:30AM. We'll tour Fabyan Japanese Garden http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM2F7Y from 10 to 11:30 and then lunch in the gazebo at the Mill Race Inn . (Click on "LUNCH" on the left for the menu). The cost for the tour is $4 and $3 for seniors. Lunch is not included, but is very reasonable. We'll return to Morris approximately 2:00 PM. Wear comfy walking shoes and dress for the weather. September 21st - Fall/winter hours begin - 7:00 PM. We'll also begin meeting back at the New Community Christian Church at 705 E. Washington St., Morris. The fall/winter hours begin also...which means 7:00 p.m. Nancy & Larry Christian from Redbud Creek Farm will be bringing us our program. Their topic will be "Using Natives, Why and How". We'll have our annual produce exchange. Please bring any excess produce from your garden that you wish to share/trade. Anything left over will be donated to We Care of Grundy County. National Night Out involves Citizens, Law Enforcement, Civic Groups and Businesses gathering together to heighten Crime & Drug Awareness. This years National Night Out theme will be "The Carnival". The D.A.R.E. Program is a fundamental program that reaches 5th & 6th graders in our community by teaching drug awareness.
