of the University of Illinois Extension is holding a Spring Seminar in
Ottawa. They have 4 sessions planned throughout the day,
covering 16 varied topics.  The $35.00 registration fee includes a
continental breakfast and lunch, handouts, and much more!

March 16:  The program for Morris Area Garden Club’s March 16th meeting has changed.  Harry Peterson, a
beekeeper and semi-retired teacher and coach from W. Aurora School District 129 will present, the “Life of a
Beekeeper".  He has been a beekeeper for 30 years and belongs to the Cook-DuPage Beekeepers Association and
has been active on their board for many years.   

He taught 5th grade for 32 years and coached tennis in the high school for many of those years.  He continues to
make presentations as "Mr. Wizard" in many classrooms - a program designed for elementary children.   

Harry has presented his "Life of a Beekeeper" talk to many garden clubs, nursing homes, special interest groups,
schools, and nature centers.   

Mr. Patterson has received many awards for his involvement with children and tennis. He has received Hall of Fame
honors as a tennis coach from W. Aurora High School, Aurora University and State of Illinois High School Coaches
Association. His top honor was given to him as Kane County Teacher of the Year where he was recognized as one of
the top five teachers in the state.   

He enjoys teaching & loves to show his hobbies to interested groups.  He will have honey and honey products for sale
after the meeting.

St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner and so are the
parades and festivals.  Irish immigrants were instrumental in the
construction of the I&M Canal so it comes as no surprise that we
start celebrating this Heritage a little early.  Everyone is Irish in
